TCP/IP Operations for z/OS

Pre- requisites The ability to navigate ISPF/PDF panels.
The ability to run MVS commands.
Competancy in ISHELL commands would be beneficial.
A basic knowledge of Unix file structures and commands would be an
advantage
Audience This course is aimed at operations personnel responsible for monitoring TCP/IP in a z/OS environment.
Course Content Overview of the TCP/IP stack and its relationship to the OSI Standard in the
z/OS environment.
IP address classes and the need for subnetting.
Ports and their use.
IP Routing.
Network interfaces.
The use of Domainname Services.
The network file system.
TCP/IP Operations and methods of interrogation, to include console, native TSO
and USS interfaces.
Overview of TCP/IP applications, to include TN3270E, FTP, Telnet and
OMPROUTE.
Virtual IP Addressing (VIPA).
Course Delivery This course can be provided on customer site or at OS Security Ltd's training facility in Solihull. Extensive practical exercises are an integral part of this course and therefore class sizes are limited to 12 attendees.
