The ability to write JCL and run MVS commands.
Competancy in ISHELL commands would be beneficial.
A basic knowledge of Unix file structures and commands would

advantage. Although an introduction of TCP/IP will be presented,
a basic
understanding would be advantageous. |

This
course is aimed at Network Administrators who are responsible
for installing, configuring and maintaining TCP/IP for z/OS. |

Content |
Introduction to a TCP/IP network including addressing concepts,
subnetting and
supernetting.
Use of Unix System Services and its use by TCP/IP and associated
applications.
Installation/Configuration of TCP/IP for z/OS.
SMP installation will not be covered.
The configuration will include MVS/USS requirements.
Configuration of the TCP/IP profile, to include Network Interface
definitions, IP,
TCP and UDP configuration. Description and implementation
of Static and
Dynamic
routing.
Description and configuration of Virtual IP Addresses (VIPA)
both Static and
Dynamic.
Content and customisation of the TCPDATA, HOSTS and SERVICES
datasets.
Configuration of common TCP/IP applications, including TN3270E,
OMPROUTE,
Telnet, FTP and INET Daemon. Diagnostics overview using commands
issued
from TSO, USS and console. RACF Configuration for TCP/IP and
associated
applications. |
| Course
Delivery |
This
course can be provided on customer site or at OS Security
Ltd's training facility in Solihull. Extensive practical exercises
are an integral part of this course and therefore class sizes
are limited to 12 attendees. |
