| Description |
The main focus of this course will
be on the new TCP/IP functionality of Tivoli NetView for
OS/390. You will be taken through all of the key tasks required
to manage TCP/IP networks via Tivoli NetView for OS/390
and will also explore alternate methods for viewing network
topology, monitoring network functions, and issuing commands.
This course will not provide
an in depth installation and configuration view of Tivoli
NetView for OS/390, but it will aim to provide sufficient
information for the audience to get started.

The following skills and areas of knowledge are required:
Prior to undertaking this course it is recommended that
students complete either Tivoli NetView for OS/390 Installation
and Administration (strongly recommended), or both of the
following two courses:
Tivoli
NetView for OS/390 Introduction and Overview
Tivoli
NetView for OS/390 Mainframe Operations
OS/390
systems programming experience, including familiarity with
TSO
Some knowledge
of TCP/IP concepts and protocols, particularly TCP/IP
commands and SNMP Additionally, the following would be advantageous:
 
Experience with earlier versions of NetView
 
OS/390 Communications Server Experience
 
OS/390 UNIX Systems Services Experience
 
Experience with SNA networking
 
Familiarity with REXX programming language
 
Windows 2000 user skills
