Description |
The Tivoli Object Repository is the set of database files that store the resource and method data maintained by the Framework. In this advanced, intensive course, delegates will learn the concepts, methodology, techniques, and tools necessary to troubleshoot the Tivoli Object Repository.
Delegates will have the opportunity to learn many of the common methods and attributes of the Repository. This instructor-led course incorporates hands-on lab exercises, allowing delegates many opportunities to practice the skills presented. |

This
course enables the attendee to build the necessary knowledge
and skills to:
Describe
the basic concepts behind CORBA, the Tivoli Framework
classes,
methods
and attributes, object creation and persistent storage
Explain
inheritance relationships between classes
Extract
attribute and method information from IDL / TEIDL
User
odstat and wtrace to examine method behaviour and determine
the root
cause
of failure
Use idlcall
and objcall to directly invoke object methods
Use idlattr
to retrieve and update attribute values
Identify
techniques to manually correct database errors and gather
troubleshooting
information
Diagnose
database errors
Detect
and correct object relationships and/or data consistencies

This course is intended for Tivoli Customer Support and Development personnel, experienced Tivoli technicians, Tivoli Business Partners and customers. |

Skills/Knowledge |
The
following skills and areas of knowledge are required:
Object
Oriented programming terms and techniques (class, inheritance,
polymorphism,
overloading, etc.)
Installation
and administration of the Tivoli Framework environment (logins,
roles,
regions, profile managers, endpoints, managed nodes, gateways,
etc
Familiarity
with the following tools: idlcall, idlattr, irview, objecall,
odbls |

Pre-requisites |
Delegates
must have attended the Tivoli Infrastructure course, or
have the skills mentioned above to attend this course. Delegates
should have a good understanding of the following areas:
