Tivoli Business Systems Manager 2.1 for Administrators
Course Description

This course teaches students to administer the IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager environment. Students will learn how to manage and maintain components and servers, operator workspaces, propagation and monitored resources. Troubleshooting techniques will be provided. This is an instructor-led course with hands-on activities. IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager Fundamentals is a prerequisite for this course.

Manage the IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager user interface
Manage IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager Base Services
Manage the connections to monitored resources
Troubleshoot event flow issues

Who will benefit from the course?

IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager 2.1 for Administrators is meant for system administrators of Tivoli Business Systems Manager servers and components after implementation has been completed. These administrators will be responsible for managing, maintaining, troubleshooting and ensuring the availability of the IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager environment.

Required Skills/Knowledge Working knowledge of the Windows operating system
Understanding of Windows system administration concepts
specifically:
Understanding of file maintenance (create, delete, set permissions)
  Familiarity with local and domain user accounts
Using the Registry Editor
Basic understanding of client/server concepts * Ability to use Windows editors
Ability to navigate through windowing applications
Working knowledge of an internet browser
Significant understanding of the environments that are being monitored on the
students site
Understanding of OS/390 and a basic understanding of the subsystems that
are to be monitored will be required if the enterprise edition is to be covered in
detail
Understanding of Tivoli Framework (Distributed Edition)
Understanding of Tivoli Enterprise Console (Distributed Edition)
Understanding of Tivoli Distributed Monitoring (Distributed Edition)
Working knowledge of MS SQL Server
Competence in IBM Tivoli Business System's Manager operator level skills (see
IBM Tivoli Business System's Manager Fundamentals course for details)
Recommended Pre-requisites Before attending this course, you should attend the Tivoli Business Systems Manager 2.1 fundamentals course
