Description |
This course
teaches you the skills needed to install and configure
IBM Tivoli NetView 7.1 for Windows. You will gain skills
needed to model your enterprise network, configure polling
for critical network resources, filter and forward events
as needed, and collect network data for analysis. Demonstrations
and interactive activities will allow the opportunity
to practice the skills presented in this web-based course.

Perform basic installation
and configuration of the Tivoli NetView server, traditional
client, web client, and Mid-Level Managers (MLMs)
Modify the configuration
of the Tivoli NetView environment, including the Tivoli
NetView
server and clients
Administer the regular operations
of the Tivoli NetView environment
Administer SmartSets
Administer the collection
of SNMP data
Use MIB tools within the
Tivoli NetView environment
Use IBM Tivoli Switch Analyzer
product to isolate the root cause of a network
problem

| Who will benefit from the course? |
This course
is intended for the Windows NetView Administrator. A
Windows NetView Administrator is an individual who is
responsible for assisting in planning, installing, implementing,
configuring, transferring skills, and supporting IBM
Tivoli NetView for Windows. This individual may also
be responsible for network management services within
the enterprise. It is expected that the Windows NetView
Administrator will be able to perform these tasks with
limited assistance from peers, product documentation,
and vendor support services.

the size, location, and aging of network logs

the Tivoli NetView interface, including the display, symbol
properties,
submap
layout, menu bar options, and custom objects
Define
custom event filters, configure traps, and customize event
applications
Customize
discovery of the network and status polling of devices
on the network
Load
new Management Information Bases (MIBs) and use the MIB
Browser to
configure
SNMP on devices
Create
new SmartSets for objects providing a certain service
or meeting specified
criteria
Use
Data collections and identify threshold routines for collection
of SNMP data
